This member....baltic1284.... believes that we need more tractors for a future expansion.. linkyI don't know that that IS really what we need... I mean don't we have enough already I personally think there just isn't enough to do to keep me interested... I need more management or something...a goal.. a dead farm that needs to be brought back and built up. The only goal I see in the game is to make more money...and honestly after three playing FS13, FS15 and now FS17... it just isn't enough... most maps I barely scratch 7 in game days and I'm bored to tears.. your thoughts ?

I agree, it would be more engaging if you had to work for every penny you get your hands on to build your farm. Have next to nothing to start out on, work for farmers to get yourself cash to get the needed things for your farm and go from there, no fields owned either. I honestly think we got too much to start on Goldcrest.
I honestly don't think we need more tractors, we've got plenty, we just can't use them because there isn't anything to do for them to be the most useful.

I wish there was a Campaign Mode or something with objectives rather than just a sandbox game..
For instance, have several different scenarios or challenges where you have to reach a certain objective... Example, give you a small farm and tell you to work your way to having 500 cows. Or start out owning 1 field and your objective is to own 10 fields. Or have at least 500,000L of each crop type in storage. Or obtain a bank balance of $2,500,000 starting with very little...
All of this with no cheating available...

I like that idea mdoss. Stronghold did something like that. I definitely don't need more tractors. The brands don't mean as much as the function although I'm glad we have real brands instead of the GTA type branding. I'd like to see different header types for other crops and different harvesting equipment. After so long how hard could it be to add in fruit harvesting or something. I'd like to see the animals be placeable so we can out them were we want. Clear some land first, developed the area. Then you could have multiple animal types in game and a person could choose what they want. Maybe integrate in different systems to boost yield or price. Like tiling your field boosts yield. Organic farming brings a higher price. Maybe the weather could mean something instead of the occasional annoyance that I fast forward through so I can see the end of my tractor nose. Lots of things i could think of.

mdoss ... you hit the nail right on the head... the game was way more fun when i had PS trophies to obtain for various things.. it gave me a purpose.. campaign mode IS what this game needs... with several tasks to be fulfilled like everythiung you mentioned as a single campaign...not one task... and then have various campaigns with different goals.

I agree, I like the variety of equipment and more gadgets are always welcome but that doesn't really change the game, although the Big Bud pack did somewhat for me because us console guys never had access to the big tools before. For me the grind isn't what I like, I don't start having fun until I have more to do so making it more of grind to start with isn't really for me. The missions are ok but I quickly burned out on them and they are very unrealistic and arcadeish, contracting my services to the other farm owners with my own equipment would make more sense, plus maybe some delivery type missions would be fun too. I like the idea of objectives but at the same time I wouldn't like it to be really structured where you had to do a+b to get to c in x amount of time and if you can't you have to start at a point and try again, those type of games don't hold my interest. To me where they messed up was screwing with the great demands, the way they were before gave you incentive to work at a quick pace to build up crops for the next big demand. Although you could manipulate the prices you still didn't know what the next demand would be so it gave me some excitement..... the new way is not exciting and no real incentive to work fast. I like the new less predictable prices but hate the way the demands are meaningless and I really dislike the price dropping after every load, especially at the BGA when one bucket of silage causes the price to drop. Another feature they took out was the auctions for fields (FS 13), I used to love that when a field came up and you had to scramble to get enough cash to buy it. It was easily manipulated, so a less predictable version of that would be preferable over the current missions to lower prices on fields. As I said I don't care for grinding but being able to build the yard from scratch, where maybe you start with an old house and barn and be able to remove them over time and put up a better house and sheds and barns, being able to work to get the materials and actually build them and not just plop down a placeable. More factory type stuff like you see on some PC maps where you take in raw goods and get a finished product which could tie in nicely with building the yard. I like the idea of placing your animals and having to expand it as you had more, which could also tie in with the factories and materials but that seems like it would be difficult to do the way the animals are built into the map now. For us console guys a lot of the scripted stuff would also be huge, seasons looks like it will be a game changer and also CP would be great for my style of play. I'm sure there is stuff I will think of later..... it's early here lol.

I agree with much of what you said... 1. I miss field auctions. 2. I hate the new missions... the old mission style was far better...just needed to lower the compensation you received. 3. Silage was way better before they fucked up the blanketing system and getting material stuck in the walls. 4. The new great demand system.. well... isn't.. its just plain dumb
As for a campaign system... NO TIME CONSTRAINT on completion... and Campaign would be a mode of the game... the sandbox mode would also still be avaialble for those who like to do it... I just don'[t find it engaging AT ALL. As for the small farm and removing building and making a better farm customized to the user... wll this just makes sense and I have been saying it for years. Would make logging more valuable if you could turn the materials you get into buildings that go up bit by bit over days and show staged growth in say 25% or 20% increments based on how much raw material you had provided. Steel or concrete would have to be purchased at the new "building supply".
See look at us and all our smarts... we are making this game better and better... not just adding tractors.
Courseplay...I don't know that I would use just because I like to be hands on... but it would be a great addition for those who do. I would love to have follow me though.

Oh yeah a career mode like that would be great, I just don't like the timed, 3x lives and game over type of thing. Something where maybe you had to reach a point to unlock a tool or feature would be cool, with an end goal to reach and still being able to go about your day how you see fit would be fun. A feature I would also like would be an expansion of the current crop storage. The silos are kind of lame.....I don't know how they do it over there but those type of silos are outdated here. We have a trailer that can haul 70,000l and the biggest extension is 100,000l where here now it's common to put up a single bin that holds 2,000,000l, and make it so you had to have at least one bin for each crop type but could add on more for more storage of each. Start with a small bin for each type and then you could either replace it with something bigger or just add another one to expand, then when a bin would be empty you could use it for different crops but only if it was empty first.....basically the way it works IRL. Then if you could either use an auger to load them or combine them in series to make a handling system where you had to buy the pit and conveyors and elevator set ups would be cool too. So many possibilities....

OK...so I may or may not have put too much thought into this.... canadafarms ... please don't judge my silo sizing... hahahaha... it's meant to be an old demoilshed farm...

Haha no judging here cr41g, although I haven't done this for FS I have drawn up plans of our own farm for future expansions and upgrading that my brother and I have planned. Just being able to make things more customized would add a lot of depth. Although if we switched to PC we could already do that but GE seems very complicated, where just simple in game customization would be more up my alley.

yeah...if I had a computer in my home...I could probably learn GE relatively quickly and do this myself... problem is I dont want to spend money on something which believe it or not...is in decline... computer sales drop more and more every year in favour of phones and tablets... gaming computers is the only area experiencing an increase and I don't want to fork out that kind of money to play a single game...

I do like that idea cr41g on your map there, I like how it is more simple, and not so "controlled" like most GIANTS maps. But yeah I don't see much people owning a computer anymore since they have phones and tablets. Something I wish to never convert too. I will always stick to console and PC. Phones are not comfortable for gaming, tablets, maybe, but still, I like how with consoles and PC's, you can have a large screen and it is more simple. For phones and tablets you have download this, download that, why can't it be simple? lol

thanks JD ... I think simple is where it is at too... all of the maps give you WAY too many buildings.. none of the farms in my commute on the way home have anything near what they do....except the chicken operations... some of them are extensive..
for gaming !!... no I would never use a phone...console will always be my choice on my 60" LED....but the phone now does everything I used to do on computer... pretty much

That's true, phones are getting more like computers. But, I would still pick a PC over a phone any day.

Smokey Mountain Logging.... this map is in console testing and I friggin hope it passes... this is probably as close to starting with nothing as I will ever see... and that is what I have always wanted...
You start with limited equipment for which you have no use as there is not a single field on the map, no farm buildings and no storage either...it's all forest and you have to cut your farm out of the bush... I am quite excitred that this thing passes... I will literally kill off any maps I have on the go to load this up and the MF pack... and get cutting trees !!!!
