Having been on the VR sideline for ages, Skyrim finally drew me in. Wow, I really wanted to replay it anyway, but in VR it is really nice.
Got me thinking that in fact Farming simulator would fit it nicely, seeing as you sit inside the tractor a lot. I'd go for that, I really would, but no disrespect to GIANTS but they are not really on the cutting edge at times. So not on the most likely list for inclusion.
Made me wonder how many play from the interior view?
So, what are your thoughts? Do you mostly play inside the cab or from the outside view?
Outside would not work, IMHO. GT Sport works only from inside and that makes perfect sense. Still, it didn't stop me from stupidly pressing the "rear" view button, lol. (It is disabled of course, just look in the mirror or turn your head).
Actually, I guess GIANTS would need to improve the mirrors a lot for to work well.
I guess there us more chance of JD in the game than VR.
Still, what's your thoughts?

I do both in cab and 3rd person. If I am on the roads hauling or moving from field to field I do in cab but usually doing field work I switch to 3rd person. This is where I think VR for FS would be fantastic because then when you were in cab you could move your head around like RL and be able to see what you were doing. On the downside....I have never tried a VR headset myself but my best friend has tried it a few times with his nephew and told me that he can only take it for about 10 minutes and then he starts getting a headache from eye strain. Maybe his experience is unique and it wouldn’t happen to me but until I knew for sure I don’t think I would go out and buy one. I guess I’m not much help lol, it would be pretty cool I think if my old eyes could handle the VR.

Seems some people are more likely to feel ill than others with VR.
At first, yeah it was a little odd, but with the PSVR it is vital to adjust the tightness of the headset. Too tight and it gives pressure on the sides of the head and can cause headaches just from that. There are also a lot of settings and configuration to help set the headset to the viewer, more than the start-up does.
It also depends on the type if game played. I'd certainly only recommend playing for short periods, take a break and return. I do find those games, like Robinson The Journey, which makes you climb and look up can be awkward to do.
I will say, do not be tempted to use games with full rotation setting. Skyrim camera rotates by default in jerky small chunks. At first this seemed terrible, but I tried Skyrim with full 360 rotation on the right stick and it made even me sick from motion. I'd not recommend games with 360 rotation and by that I mean where you can move the camera view and not your head.
Gonna put a video out soon on VR, lots of friends have asked is it any good and how are the games like? It's an interesting technology with quite a few challenges.
Back to FS, I've heard of the head tracking, but that's not the same really. Still pretty cool though.

CrazyTrain, I did see a YT vid with a guy using a 3 monitor set up with the head tracking and it did look pretty neat, would be a little too pricey for my tastes and playing habits but the closest thing to VR that is available ATM. Not sure we will see VR in FS anytime soon though, IRC the CTO for Giants, Stegei, commented after 17 was realeased and someone asked if it would ever be implemented, said something along the lines of it would be a lot of work and capital investment for such a small percentage of players that would have access to VR.....being that it is only a PS thing right now. Don’t quote me on that but that is what I remember.

I doubt it is just cost, lots of small indie developers can develop games with much smaller budgets.
FS has not exactly jumped in technically improvements has it over the years. It's probably the effort they would need to put in.
I wonder, for all that effort in the mobile versions of FS, do they really sell much on those platforms?

As promised, I flung together a bunch of PSVR clips and gave my thoughts on PSVR here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTGiH9WEmr8 I'm a no-advert channel, so I don't make money out of any of this, I'm just a long term gamer!

miura74 that was a well done demo, I really enjoyed it. It’s just strange finally being able to put a voice to the name lol......but I must say a good voice for this type of thing, I felt like I was listening to a professional announcer on a TV program. Stupid question....how do you record the VR video and post it? Also I must apologize for living under a rock because I see you have quite a bit of content posted on your channel. I am going to be watching your Sailing farms series here asap. I knew you had posted a vid in the wip thread for it but I didn’t realize there was more. Anyway I give it 👍🏻👍🏻

Thanks, I appreciate it! Cutting promos and authoring videos is something I really enjoy. I have a full time job, so my channel is only in my spare time. Still, I clocked up 200+ videos now. Don't earn any money from it, no clickbait or trash, just fun gaming. I've actually spent way too much on equipment for my channel, well, at least so the wife says, lol. I use the PS4 to record the videos, it records the last 15 minutes (by default) for most games. Download it to a USB stick, upload it to the PC and then put it all together using Adobe CC suite. I made quite a few episodes on Salling farm, but I ran into a problem with the map. That vorpommern map seemed to be just what I was trying to create with my map. Wide, flat, and simple map. But it has quite a few errors. I might try to rebuild the Salling map, I'd need to update the Seasons support and sugarcane added in Platinum FS. Had trobule getting permission for some objects. But time is the biggest factor for me, I have limited spare time and so in recent months focused on the more popular videos on my channel, Fallout 4 and No man's sky. You can find the Salling series under "playlists".

I can understand not finishing Salling, modding is very time consuming but if you do I will DL for sure. Still haven’t had a chance to watch the series yet but I will when I have some time.
About the video recording on PS.....I really didn’t think it was that simple but that sounds easy enough. Where do you go on the PS menu to find the recorded video? Also on a semi related matter I have another question. I think I might already know the answer but I will ask anyway. So I got a PS4 Pro recently with the plan of keeping my old PS at my work living quarters and keeping the pro at home on my 4K tv, then just transfer data between the two via USB stick. So this does work as planned but only partially, the game data transfers but downloads do not. So it will not transfer mods or updates, which kind of defeats the purpose of what I was trying to do because I have to use my mobile data to DL at work, and ideally I don’t want to have to DL everything twice. So is there any way to transfer the DL data using the USB stick through saved game data in the settings area or do I have to get an external hard drive and DL the entire system data to it and then upload onto my other PS? Any insight or ideas would be much appreciated.
Sorry if this is slightly off topic but at least it is kinda related being it is PS tech lol.

For the Salling map I needed to update something for the later Seasons support and also Platinum FS added Sugarcane. Plus I was struggling with a few low FPS points. On the menu look for pictures/videos option, it was originally called "Capture gallery", but they changed it. Under that option you can view either all pictures/videos or for a specific game. Find the clip you want, insert a USB stick, press options and you can then select copy to USB. It can be slow with lots of videos or large clips. Now comes a little problem with the PS4, it doesn't seem to have an "eject" for the USB stick, so don't be tempted to just unplug the USB with the PS4 still running. USB sticks can become corrupted if they are unplugged while still powered. I have to shut off the PS4 (not rest mode) before unplugging it. Plug it in a PC and just copy it over to use it. Easy. If you want an even easier way, and aren't wanting to edit the video afterwards, you can always direct stream from the PS4. I sometimes direct stream to YouTube, once you link the account on the PS4, pressing share allows you to start streaming and it will be uploaded automatically while you play to YouTube. You can also use Twitch. Only problem with streams can be that most people do not want to sit and watch hours of footage. Also direct streaming will be shown on the PSN video pages, where PS players can watch or comment live. As for the recording, like I said it records the last 15 minutes all the time, but keeps overwriting it and not saving. If you want to save the last 15 minutes, press Share and then square. You can also start the recording manually but double pressing Share quickly, you should hear a "ting" and see the record icon. Before the 15 minutes are up, you can press Share again to save the clip. If you forget to press it, it actually automatically saves that 15 minute clip, but be warned there is a slight transition between the end of that clip and the start of the next recording. You can also download the SHAREfactory app and edit the video clips on the PS4. Sorry for the long post, lol. Now, for the transferring between PS4s, are you signed in to the the PS network when using either one with your account or not? Are you also a PSplus member? If you are using your account on your PS4s AND have a PS+ account, then you can use the online storage for savegame transfer. But you must have a PS+ account for this. You can on one PS4, upload savegames to the online storage, then when you go to the other PS4 and login, you can use the download option and transfer the savegame to the other PS4. I've done this between older PS4 and PS4 Pro with no problems. If you are not a PS+ member, then USB sticks for the savegames is the other way to do it. Savegames shouldn't be too big to DL via your mobile connection I'm guessing. For the application (games/mods/updates), the PS4 now supports external USB harddrives to store games on. I never done this myself yet, but I've read it does work. The external drive will become formatted for the PS4, and it will become locked to your PS network account. This is an antipiracy thing. So, plug in a new drive and format for the PS. You can then copy over the game application (downloads), which should include the updates/mods. Take the drive to the other PS4 and just login with your PS network account. You should be able to run the games from the drive with no problems. In fact, games run faster on the external drive than the internal drive. Hope that might help.

Thanks for the tips on the video sharing. I guess I should have messed around with it before I asked, that seems easy enough haha.
I do have a PS network account but I don’t have PS+ ....I should have put that in my question. I have done a free trial on it only a few weeks ago, me and a good friend played NHL 18.....first time I have ever played PS online and PS+ is required. I may get a subscription in the future but it is pretty rare that we can get together to play a game and I don’t see myself playing strangers on multiplayer so I didn’t get a subscription for now. I do know that with a + account I can transfer save game data but I don’t think the DL data would transfer, that’s why I was more interested in an external device. For a mod or small update it’s not that big of a deal to use my mobile data but the bigger stuff is a pain. It eats my data allotment up like crazy and it is terribly slow, being that I usually only get 3G service where I stay for work. I think I will get myself an external hard drive then.....that should do exactly what I want it to.
Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions!!

I think VR would be a great thing to have for the game, it may even spruce it up a bit than just your traditional mouse and keyboard. I have always wanted to try VR, just can't justify spending the money for one, lol. A 3 monitor setup would be beast, I actually tried that once, but didn't work with my old Nvidia GTX750Ti card. Oh well, one monitor is just fine for me.
