So I wanted to get rid of some trees to expand and merge some fields on WBH(ya I know cr41g , the unwashed is using this map while he waits for MVR )and I thought I would try making wood chips since I haven't tried that yet. Well anyway NEVER AGAIN is all I have to say. The physics are absolutely BRUTAL!! The trees slide around like they are on ice and coated with lube, when you squeeze the grapple on them if is too lose they fall off, if it's too tight it starts having a seizure, then when you finally get the wood to the chipper it's darn near impossible to get them to feed. I love this game but if I had to spend any amount of time doing this I would become a raging alcoholic or wind up in a padded room at the looney bin. If anyone wants to complain about handling bales in this game just try making wood chips and you will never complain about it again!

I have stayed away from forestry in any aspect unless I need to remove a tree then I just cut the thing up and get rid of it... same with the BGA... I find the new physics of it annoying..I just bale grass to make silage if I need it.. thats why I yearn for more activities in this game

I am with you there, woodchips are not worth a person's time. Forestry was way better in FS15, something got tweaked that shouldn't've been.

Yeah maybe it's easier with the pine or furs or whatever you can do with the buffalo but those big trees around the field by the yard in WBH are something else haha. I got a tip on the other forum that works great, cut them down, get a log trailer, lift the stump end up with the loader, back under with the trailer until you can get a few straps around them, lower it down and strap them on and drag those puppies to the mill. The money is a lot better for the chips but if you want to maintain your sanity this is the way to go lol.

If you're on PC I've got a solution to your wood chip frustrations.

Nah still rockin the PS4, I have decided to stick with it for 17 probably, maybe toward the end of 17 I will switch so I am ready for 19..... see what happens I guess. Are you by chance talking about that self propelled deal that you can use to destroy the whole tree and blow them into a tipper mountaincowboy?

I'm with you cr41g. I wish I liked forestry so I could to do something a little different once in awhile. I just cut some trees with the chainsaw on AO to get easier access to the river for water. There was a purpose and satisfaction in doing that. But making money logging or chipping, too frustrating for me.

I've still got an Xbox One and PC, yeah there's no easy way to do wood chips on console... No I was talking about auto load log trailers and a placeables woodchiping "factory?" Not sure that's what it is or not but those together make wood chips easy and worth it. I wish consoles were able to have the mods PC's do!

That does sound like it would be a more enjoyable way of doing it mountaincowboy, would be nice to see some of these scripted mods make it into the game on consoles.

One can hope, maybe since this was Giants "test" year for mods on consoles they've learned ALOT about what it's going to take and how to make it happen for console users, that's if Sony will trust Giants and let outside scripts be used.

The thing is I support the decision to not allow outside scripts, that way it should keep our systems free from corruption. I think Giants needs to figure out a way to work with the creators if these scripts and come together to get the scripts added into the base game through updates. The reason I say this is that reading on different forums a lot of times it seems these mods conflict with each other and cause problems. Where if Giants tested them and ironed out conflicts before the updates were put out it should work better for everybody, including PC players. It likely won't happen but personally I feel the current system is flawed.

I know Giants are busy and they are only one team but if they did something like you suggested then there would be little to no issues at all about mods. Who knows, maybe the next version will be a completely new remake that is exactly what the game should be and what the players want.

Yeah, it would be nice but the whole ownership of IP seems to be a touchy subject, these are just my thoughts and opinions. I have watched this game progress a lot over the three versions I have played so I'm sure it will just keep getting better.

I have no doubt about that especially with the competition that's coming.

I think the competition has the potential to bury Gaints alive...IF..and only IF they can bring it to console... if they don't Giants will maintain that customer base... but still thats only half their current market.
