I heard a nursery rhyme once for ford. It goes:
"Hear that whistle?" "See that smoke?" "You blew up your Powerstroke!"
Kinda dumb, but true. Correct me if i'm wrong. (I`m not)

Haha, Ford humor. Whenever I talk to my cousins about trucks, they always call the "Power stroke" a "Power joke".

I won't say much here, they are all good when they are running. The last two cummins dodges I owned gave me a lot of problems, same with my brothers last dodge. I know the 6.0 and 6.4 power strokes had issues and I wouldn't touch those but my 6.7 has been awesome, my 2011 F350 has been bar none the best truck I have ever owned and trust me my trucks are not babied lol.

I used to have the 7.3 power stroke king ranch edition that had a chip, it was a monster. Loved that truck but it started having a ton of issues now I'm looking at getting a first gen cummins with the 5.9.

By first gen are you talking the 94-02? I had a 98 with the last of the 12 valves, it wasn't overly powerful by today's standard but it was bullet proof, and now you can add on all kinds of stuff to really make those things go!!! The only issue I had with that truck was the auto trans and thats why when I bought my 06 I went standard and so did my brother, but then we had clutch issues on both of them..... and all my dodges had crappy front ends. Depends what you want to use it for but Dodge never did build a truck that could hold up to the cummins IMO but then again from what I hear with the new emissions cummins is having a hard time holding up too, but that emissions crap is hard on all engines to be fair.

Yep that's the one, but honestly I kind of want just the motor to stuff into something else. A guy my dad works with builds motors for semis and does some crazy stuff with them and he had told me at one point that if I get my hands on a 5.9 he'll make her a screamer lol.

I would honestly prefer the 24 valve Cummins over the 12 valve any day, partly because they had more power. But yeah, the transmissions were a big deal with those 94-02 Dodge's. When I was buying my first car/truck, I looked at a 94-02 Dodge 3/4 and said "Tranny?" and then my dad told me that the transmissions (I am guessing automatics? Can't remember) had lots of problems in that year of truck. In all honesty, if I were to buy a Dodge with the 5.9 24 valve Cummins, I would take the engine out it and put it in my Chevy.
