Most of those guests will be search bots. They mount up massively on forums. Especially when you start adding search options and META tags in the forum structure. The numbers look good but when you look at the actual statistics it is deeply saddening . not sure how far into stats you can go with these boards but I know other providers give you ample information. Even though what I said . good job on the views. Onwards and upwards folks

What are these search bots? I see them on the giants forum too. Basically it's google bing yahoo etc. Search engines that read forums. That's what helps with search results. They take information then if someone uses their search engine and does a search containing anything the search not has read then the forum will show up in search results.

On GIANTS' forum, it will usually say at the bottom of the main page: "Google [Bot]" in a light purple and so are the others.
At least they are sort of getting my forum more recognized... Sort of...

Yeah I don't know if it's coincidence or what but when you first started this forum it didn't come up on a search but I just did a yahoo search and it comes up now

It won't come up at the start as there is very little on it. If I remember rightly there has to be unique visitors and a certain amount of posts before search engines will pick up sites. The more active the higher up the search they become

Ahh, I looked at first pages only. Did several different word combination searches... Don't worry, we'll get it on the first page eventually!

Google is a little harder to hit front page. Being the most used and vast search engine. To make an impact with them you will need to be at around 20-25 users who post constantly . I also think the total number of posts that the search bots can find/read help. So JD if you have your forum permissions set so that bots can't see stuff its a good idea to change them until you get a bigger user database built up . permissions are a pain in the rump but they need to be set properly to make full impact of everything
