Good to hear from you miura74! Thank you for your condolences. Yeah really thinking of trying to give NML a go aswell, only problem is coming into spring now I am not going to have much time for FS. I spent a ton of time building a prairie style map with huge fields on flat map. TBH it’s pretty much the only map I have used for FS19. For the most part I am quite happy with it but slots do become a factor. I think there is only about 450 slots taken when you start but don’t quote me on that, it’s been a long time since I started on it. I assume the reason for having more slots used than NML is that there are quite a few sell points on flat map where there is only one on NML. I do enjoy building out a map to suit my liking but at the same time it really highlights how limited we are on consoles. There are so many more things I would like to put on my flat map build to make it feel more realistic but I am pretty much out of slots and the gameplay is starting to get really choppy at times. If I do start on NML I will probably focus more on animals and root crops this time since I already have my big grain farming map.

NML has some hidden gems. It comes with it's own placeables as part of the map, and they are optimized a lot. Most only take 1 or 2 slots. There are quite a few of them too, including new selling points, barns, wood chipping, etc. The big barn is very good, has working lights, door and still only a couple of slots. I've been working a lot on the terrain, but takes a lot of cash to do it. Had to use the MP cheat to get cash. You can see my current progress on the official board: forum.giants-software.com/viewtopic.php?f=963&t=161898&p=1263118#p1263118Yeah, gameplay can get choppy with too many items in the same place on console. I found that placing several different farms around the map, away from the others can help a lot. It helps to de-spawn the equipment and should run a little faster. I've also noticed that some mods are poorly optimized. They can really slow down the FPS. Usually, the textures are too high or just poorly made. But you can see this normally from the slots they need. If they are just a simple barn and take 50 slots, then it's poorly optimized. I think there is a crazy cow barn on the console mods right now that uses 42 slots. Sadly, poor mods is quite common on PC and it seems that those posting for consoles don't bother to optimize them. We're still in lockdown here, but they talk about opening up again. I still feel, we're not being told something about all this virus. Anyway, stay safe and healthy.

Definitely a lot of good mods included with NML and like you said, very well optimized. AJ did a good job with the map and mods.
What I did when I was building out my flat map save was to use the subsidy mod to give myself alot of money. Then I bought all the land and plowed, landscaped, built a road network and divided the fields how I wanted them. I also established a yard to use as my home farm. From there I sold all of the land except for the yard and one field. Then I bought and sold the most expensive piece of equipment over and over until I had no money left. I would buy as many as the shop would hold and then sell them then just rinse and repeat. From that point it was just like starting any other map. As far as buying fields I just had to buy the squares that corresponded with the field I was buying. It’s maybe not the most conventional way of doing things but it worked.
Yeah I generally don’t keep a lot of equipment in one place as a rule. It just seemed the lower I got on slots the more choppy the game would get, even with everything spread out. Usually when using more than a couple hired helpers on any map it does that but even just driving around with nothing working I get FPS drops now.
Yeah this whole lockdown thing is no fun. It hasn’t affected the work on the farm at all really but I do know that it will hit my construction business hard this year. The companies I do work for have all slashed their budgets for this year already. Its not good but not much I can’t do about it and yes I fully agree that there is a lot they aren’t telling us.

Sounds like a good way to start the map. I tend not to have too much free time, even with lockdown, so I use the online multiplayer cheat method. Just create a private MP session, then add more farms to your farm, 1.2 million each I think. Then save, quit and open again in single player. You get all the cash. If you need more, just repeat again. Saves me a lot of time. I tend to play just as a pick up and play kinda thing, rather than work towards the next bit of equipment.
I could see on NML when using the terrain edit or paint, that moving around the map, equipment did de-spawn at a certain distance. I wonder if they changed anything in an update.
We're still in a sort of lockdown here, they are opening up again. We're working 50% at work, 50% at home. But there are now stories in the news of outbreaks at schools and nursing homes. So I think the second wave is coming and we'll be back to a strict lockdown. Crazy how this affects so many around the world, so many jobs, so many lives. The company I work for may ask everyone to take a 20% pay cut until this is over. Either that or fire people. Tough times.

Dang. Due to a bug somewhere, my NML map is broken. Either map update, seasons or something else. All animals stuck at 0% cleanliness and the animals die. Tried running without seasons but somewhere broke. 35 hours lost, mostly terrain editing. Dang it.
Started a new NML with same mods, seems fine. Oh well...
