I need to show this to my wife, lol. She's been watching a series here about families in Canada who are living "off grid", AND she thinks it'd be a great place to live. Even with the bears. And snow.

it actually is a great place to live....I hate snow, mostly because I commute a lot...but you learn to tolerate it, now granted I live in a small town with access to more metropolitan areas but if I had the coin I would be living in a cabin in the woods... with really great internet access..

I would so move to Canada, but there are two problems: my truck won't pass inspection and I don't want my Heather (my truck, finally named her!!! ) getting rusty. Now snow, that is not a big deal.

Heather eh, I call my truck the tank. First reason is that it is how I haul fuel to my equipment so I have a big fuel tank on it and second it has been an awesome truck and seems to take anything I can throw at it. My wife calls it the boat, because it is a long box crew cab so it is quite long and clumsy and she refuses to drive it under any circumstances...... I could be laying there, bleeding to death and if it was the only vehicle available to get help with I would die because she WILL NOT drive it lol. As far as the salt it's probably not as bad as you would think. It's so cold and dry here in the winter the salt doesn't seem too bad as long as you wash your vehicle once in a while. I've heard the east coast is really bad for rust on vehicles but where I live it's not that bad.
